SBI PUBLIC ISSUE BY JULY-AUG.

The Chairman of SBI, Sh. G.G. Vaidya has informed that the State Bank of India (SBI) would come out with a simultaneous offer of shares to the domestic and overseas market to mobilise Rs. 3,000-4,000 crore by July-August 2000.

WORK STARTS FOR ‘SARV SANJHA VANN’

A ‘Sarv Sanjha Vann’ will be set up on an area of 10 acres near Charan Ganga Stadium and work for this project began with the cleaning up of the plot by the youth attending the eight-day Khalsa Tercentenary National Integration Youth Camp. The camp has been organised by the National Youth Project with the co-operation of the Punjab School Education Board under the aegis of Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib.

In the ‘sarv sanjha vann’, the youths will plant saplings which they have brought from their respective states and the ones provided by the Punjab Forest Department.

NRI DONATES TO UNIVERSITY FOR INSTITUTING PRIZES

An American philanthropist of Indian origin Ram S. Goyal has donated Rs. 60 lakh to the Kurukshetra University for instituting four Goyal Prizes of Rs. One lakh and five Rajiv Goyal Prizes of Rs. 50,000 each.The prizes will be awarded annually to the distinguished scientists of the country by the university.

According to the university spokesman, the Goyal Prizes, instituted by Ram S. Goyal in 1992, had so far been conferred on 31 scientists who had made outstanding contributions to the Indian science.

LT. GEN. (RETD.) JFR JACOB IS NEW PUNJAB GOVERNOR

Lt. Gen. (Retd.) JFR Jacob has been moved from Goa to be appointed as the new Governor of Punjab. Former Cabinet Secretary Vinod Pandey will be the new Governor of Bihar, Industrialist Viren Shah will be of West Bengal, according to a Rashtrapati Bhawan Communique.

Former Delhi Police Commissioner Ved Marwah has been appointed as the Governor of Manipur and former Planning Commission Member Mohammed Fazal as Governor of Goa.

Gen Jacob has been transferred and appointed as Governor of Punjab and Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
