Gurudwara Fatehgarh Sahib Jor Mela

This is another landmark fair of Punjab . Shaheedi Jor Mela is organised every year in December at Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib, in the Fatehgarh Sahib district of Punjab to commemorate one of the most significant events in the Sikh history – the martyrdom of two younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh. They were bricked alive for refusing to convert to Islam..It is a source of inspiration and strength for the people of Punjab, as it reminds them of their rich tradition of being ready to sacrifice their lives for their faith. The first day of the Mela is observed purely in religious spirits. The mela would begin from December 24 with Akhand Path of Guru Granth Sahib at gurdwara Jyoti Swarup. Jor Mela is accompanied with marital arts performances.
