    Matar Wale Chawal

    Matar Wale Chawal is a very simple and quick recipe and can be prepared in a few minutes. This versatile rice preparation can be eaten as an accompaniment with Raita.

    Ingredients
    Basmati Rice 2 Cups
    Green Peas (shelled) 250 g
    Laung 3
    Bay leaves 2
    Dal Chinni 1 Stick
    Water 4 Cups
    Salt To taste
    Ghee 1 tbsp

     

    METHOD

    1. Pick, wash and soak the rice for 20 minutes.
    2. Lightly heat ghee in a heavy-bottomed vessel.
    3. Add Laung bay leaves and Dalchinni and fry for a few seconds.
    4. Add green peas and fry for a minute.
    5. Add the soaked rice, 4 cups water and salt to taste and mix well.
    6. Bring to boil. After a boil simmer. Cook covered with a lid.
    7. Lightly mix once or twice when the rice is being cooked.
    8. Cook till the rice is done.
    9. Serve hot with any Raita.
