Vadi Wale Chawal
Vadi Wale Chawal is another traditional rice made with Moong dal vadi .
Ingredients | |
Basmati Rice | 1 Cup |
Moong dal Vadi | 5 |
Jeera | 1 tsp |
Finely Chopped Onion | 1 |
Tomatoes | 3 (pureed) |
JBay leaf | 2 |
Peppercorns | 3 |
Laung | 2 |
Ghee | 1 & 1/2 tbsp |
Water | 2 Cups |
Salt | To taste |
Haldi Powder | 1/2 tsp |
Lal Mirch Powder | 1/2 tsp |
Chopped Dhania Leaves | 1 & 1/2 tbsp |
Lemon Juice | 1 tsp |
METHOD
- Wash and soak rice in water for 30 minutes. Drain.
- Heat ghee in a pan. Fry vadi till brown. Remove from the ghee. Pound them coarsely .
- In the same ghee, add jeera, bay leaves, laung and pepper corns. Saute till crackle.
- Add onion till translucent.
- Add pureed tomatoes and green chilli and saute till oil separates.
- Add rice and saute for a minute.
- Add Haldi powder, Lal Mirch powder and salt.
- Add four cups of water.
- Mix in half of the Vadis.
- Cover with a tight lid and cook till done.
- Serve hot on a plate garnished with remaining Vadis and Dhania leaves.
- Sprinkle lemon juice.
